The main topic addressed in this work is to talk about academic essays and technical works in general. Several tools, such as skimming and scanning technique, paraphrasing, or so-called funnel approach to writing can help to write a good essay. One should also distinguish between an introduction, an abstract, or conclusions. It also provides guidelines about how to write a literature review or describe figures and diagrams, among many others. Finally, yet importantly, some practical examples are presented, and common mistakes are discussed.
The goal of this work is to familiarize students with academic English. It presents several techniques that are used to write technical works, with the focus on how to introduce controlling ideas or how to develop a statement that are some necessary steps in a successful academic writing style.
