Gerund vs Infinitive
Some allow us to use both: the Gerund or infinitive – and the meaning is still the same (e.g. start + doing vs start + to do), or the meaning is different (e.g. remember, regret).

In some cases, a Gerund can be replaced by a clause starting with “that”.
Interesting
Note that in connection with a Gerund, the verb “to start” works in a different way than the verb “to stop”. Please, compare:
  • I stopped to eat. (Zastavil jsem se na jídlo).
  • I stopped eating. (Přestal jsem jíst).
  • I started to eat. (Začal jsem jíst).
  • I started eating. (Začal jsem jíst).
