Annotation

The study material is aimed at students of tertiary schools for medical staff, namely laboratory technicians. It describes microbiology, the characteristics of the science, basic pathogenic microorganisms, which are studied by microbiology and eventually epidemiology as a logical connection to the science of microbes.

Objectives

Students will get the language skills to characterise and describe the medical field of microbiology. They will be able to describe basic pathogens and their characteristics, the way they cause infections as well as their cultivation. Furthermore, they will deal with epidemiology and will be able to distinguish epidemics from pandemics.
