Výukový materiál v otevřeném digitálním zdroji je určen pro výuku odborného anglického jazyka na vyšších odborných školách. Obsah materiálu je zaměřen na obor Diplomovaný zubní technik. Jeho tématem jsou onemocnění zubů a dutiny ústní a úrazy. Jedna kapitola se věnuje zubnímu kazu. Další se zabývá periodontálními onemocněními. Následují kapitoly o zraněních zubů a opotřebení zubů. Poslední kapitola nabízí přehled zubních náhrad, které řeší poškození zubů popsaná v kapitolách předchozích.

The educational material in the open digital source is designed to teach English for specific purposes at higher professional schools. The content of the material was created for the branch of study of the certified dental technician. Its topics are diseases of teeth and the oral cavity, and injuries. One chapter is devoted to dental decay, the next one deals with periodontal diseases and is followed by a chapter on dental injuries and tooth wear. The last chapter offers an overview of dental prostheses that are indicated for dental damage described in the previous chapters.

Objectives

Studenti se seznámí s některými onemocněními zubu a dutiny ústní, s úrazy a druhy opotřebení zubu, a také se zubními náhradami, které vyrábějí zubní technici, aby řešili poškození nebo ztráty zubů. Studenti dokáží popsat zubní plak a vysvětlit jeho význam při tvorbě a rozvoji zubního kazu. Dokáží zubní kaz rozdělit podle několika hledisek. Dokáží vystihnout povahu periodontálních onemocnění. Rozlišují gingivitidu a parodontitidu. Dokáží vyjmenovat základní prvky léčky těchto onemocnění. Studenti také dokáží rozdělit zranění zubů do dvou základních skupin. Ovládají dobře základní terminologii v této oblasti. Dále zvládnou rozlišit tři různé druhy opotřebení zubu. Díky poslední kapitole dokáží vyjmenovat a stručně popsat zubní náhrady. Pomocí několika slovníčků si upevní znalosti slovní zásoby. V interaktivních cvičeních si procvičí odbornou terminologii a rozvinou komunikativní kompetence. Na konci studia si studenti ověří znalosti tématu v samostudijním testu.

The students will become acquainted with some diseases of teeth and the oral cavity, with injuries and types of tooth wear, and also with dental replacements fabricated by dental technicians to solve tooth damage or loss. Students will be able to describe dental plaque and explain its significance in dental decay formation and progression. They will be able to classify dental decay according to different aspects. They will be able to capture the nature of periodontal diseases. They distinguish between gingivitis and periodontitis. They can also list the basic elements of periodontal disease treatment. Students will also be able to place dental injuries into two basic groups. They have a good command of basic terminology in this area. Furthermore, they will be able to distinguish three different types of tooth wear. Thanks to the last chapter, they will be able to name and briefly describe prosthetic replacements. Several vocabulary lists will help them to consolidate their knowledge of vocabulary. In interactive exercises, students will practice professional terminology and develop communicative competence. At the end of the study, the students will verify their knowledge of the subject matter in a self-test.
